This coffee comes straight from the lush mountains of Huila, Colombia, and it is something truly rare. Grown at Jardines del Encanto by Cofinet, this microlot features the Maragesha variety, a natural cross between the legendary Gesha and Maragogype, discovered by Luis Anibal Calderon at Finca Villa Betulia in 2017.
This unique varietal was planted by Cofinet in 2020 at their farm in Pitalito, Huila, sitting at an altitude of 2,050 meters above sea level. Since then, it has consistently delivered an outstanding performance in both the field and the cup, making it a top pick for competition baristas.
The cherries were carefully handpicked at peak ripeness and hand-sorted to remove defects. Drying took place over 180 hours on raised beds in a controlled environment, with temperatures ranging from 12 to 28 degrees Celsius and annual rainfall between 1,900 and 2,200 millimeters. This ensures slow, even drying that preserves all the juicy complexity this coffee has to offer.
The result? A super sweet cup of Colombian gesha. Think chocolate cake, lavender, vanilla, raisins, and caramelized pear, all dancing in and around your taste buds.
